Uveitis
Uveitis is a condition where there is inflammation of the middle coat of the eye. It may be due to infection or various systemic diseases e.g., Arthritis, Asthma, connective tissue disorders, etc.
The prevalence of Uveitis in India is about 1%.
General Symptoms of Uveitis
- Pain in the eye
- Increased sensitivity to light (Photophobia)
- Black spots floating in vision
- Blurring of vision
- Redness of the eye
Uveitis is not an isolated disease of the eye but ophthalmic manifestations of other systemic diseases. Any case of Uveitis should not be neglected and requires thorough ophthalmic and systemic check-ups as it might lead to serious complications.
